Chambord Bride – Brown Leather
Engineered Garments has collaborated with Paraboot for the third year in a row. With a well-deserved reputation for footwear par excellence, Paraboot's shoes endure both physically and aesthetically. One of their most recognisable and iconic silhouettes is a golfing shoe named Chambord for a castle in the Loire region of France, and loosely based on moccasin construction.
Nepenthes founder Daiki Suzuki has revisited this iconic shoe for this collaboration, and has drawn inspiration from an old Chamonix mountain boot unearthed during his research. The buckle and strap are reminiscent of vintage ski boots, applied to a heavy-duty Suportlo grained leather from the Degermann tanneries. Waterproof Norwegian welting is used to attach a natural rubber Jannu sole with a deep tread. The position of the buckle means that it can be used with or without lacing the five eyelets.
The Chambord has a contemporary look, with its distinctive apron toe and rounded last adding a touch of continental charm that works as well with tailoring as it does with casual styling.
Please note, due to the use of natural fats, oils and waxes in the tanning process of Paraboot’s footwear, a white haze or ‘bloom’ can appear on the surface of the leather after storage. This can be brushed back into the leather with a shoe brush.
